Yuasa Kantoku

Yuasa is attentive and pragmatic as a coach. He evaluates players according to what they demonstrate in training rather than simply favoring older students, which allows Taiki to earn tournament opportunities despite beginning the story below Eimei's established aces.

He is not depicted as an overbearing instructor who controls every detail of his athletes' lives. Eimei's badminton players conduct much of their improvement through regular practice, matches and guidance from upperclassmen, with Yuasa overseeing the larger structure of the team.

His willingness to place younger athletes in meaningful competition reflects confidence in development through experience rather than seniority alone.

Yuasa's established expertise is badminton coaching. He evaluates the Eimei players, supervises club activities and chooses athletes for official competition.

One of his significant early judgments concerns Taiki. Despite Taiki entering high school without Haryuu's established competitive record, Yuasa sees enough ability and potential to include him among Eimei's representatives for the Inter-High qualifiers.

He also manages a club containing athletes at substantially different stages of development, from inexperienced first-years to national-level upperclassmen.

Yuasa appears through Eimei's badminton storyline as the adult responsible for the team. His selection of Taiki for the Inter-High qualifying squad gives the first-year an opportunity to pursue the nationals goal that motivates much of his early training.

The decision also validates the progress Taiki has made while practicing against Haryuu. Rather than having to wait automatically behind every older player, Taiki is given a competitive opportunity based on his performance.

As later classes enter Eimei, Yuasa continues overseeing a changing roster in which younger players become upperclassmen and new competitors arrive to challenge them.

Taiki Inomata is one of Yuasa's players. Yuasa recognizes his potential and selects him to represent Eimei in the Inter-High qualifiers.

Kengo Haryuu is one of the strongest players Yuasa coaches and an important senior influence on Taiki's development.

Ryousuke Nishida is another senior member of Yuasa's badminton program and later takes responsibility as team captain.

Kyo Kasahara trains under Yuasa as a member of Eimei's badminton team.

Haruto Yusa joins Eimei's badminton club as part of the next incoming class and becomes another talented player within Yuasa's program.
