Yuan Chong

Yuan Chong is serious about combat and particularly enthusiastic about swords. Xin calls him a sword fanatic, an appropriate description for someone who pays close attention to other fighters' technique and ability.

He is more disciplined than some of the Fei Xin Force's louder veterans. As the unit grows, Yuan Chong accepts increasing responsibility and develops from a squad leader into an officer capable of supervising large numbers of infantry.

He also has a strong attachment to his comrades. The original members of the unit have survived numerous campaigns together, and Yuan Chong treats the infantry as a group whose cohesion must be preserved even when casualties and promotions change its structure.

Yuan Chong is an accomplished swordsman by the standards of Qin's ordinary militia soldiers. His skill is evident from the early campaigns, and he is capable of assessing the fighting ability of other swordsmen.

His greatest later contribution is infantry command. He understands how foot soldiers fight at close range and can coordinate them during large engagements where maintaining formation and morale is essential.

Yuan Chong also possesses unexpected skill at carving. While unrelated to combat, it is one of the personal talents that differentiates him from the many soldiers surrounding Xin.

Yuan Chong joins the early Fei Xin Force and participates in the campaigns that transform the unit from a hundred-man detachment into one of Qin's important independent forces.

As casualties alter the original command structure, Yuan Chong assumes greater responsibility for the infantry. Following the loss of senior infantry officer Zuo Song, Yuan Chong takes on the central leadership role among the Fei Xin infantry.

Across later campaigns he remains one of the force's dependable veterans, fighting through Zhao and other battlefields as Xin's army grows in size and complexity.

Xin is Yuan Chong's commander and the leader under whom he rises from an ordinary squad officer to a senior infantry commander.

Zuo Song is Yuan Chong's senior infantry comrade and an important influence on the structure of the Fei Xin Force's foot soldiers.

Dao Wei is one of Yuan Chong's fellow veteran squad leaders.

Ping Wei is another longtime infantryman who serves alongside him through numerous campaigns.

You Tian is one of the physically strongest veteran members of the Fei Xin Force and fights alongside Yuan Chong's infantry.

Liao Diao He serves as the Fei Xin Force's strategist, coordinating the larger operations in which Yuan Chong directs infantry.
