Yao Yun

Yao Yun is grim, intense and deeply shaped by his loyalty to Xiang Ru Lin. Beneath his severe demeanor, however, he is capable of considerable concern for his comrades and was particularly attentive to his master's failing health.

He carries the pride of Zhao's older military generation and initially views Qin's young commanders through the standards established by the legendary generals he once faced.

Yao Yun is both an exceptionally powerful warrior and an instinctual general. Rather than depending exclusively on formal strategic calculations, he senses changes in the flow of battle and can identify critical locations where a decisive clash will occur.

His glaive skills make him one of Zhao's strongest frontline commanders. He can personally break through elite soldiers and fight opponents such as Xin and Wang Ben.

He also commands the Rai'un, elite veterans whose experience dates back to the era of Xiang Ru Lin.

Yao Yun rises from humble origins to become one of Xiang Ru Lin's Ten Heroes and fights in the era of Zhao's original Three Great Heavens.

When Xiang Ru Lin becomes terminally ill, Yao Yun and Zhao E Long are ordered to remain alive and carry two final instructions into the future.

During the Battle of Shukai Plains, Yao Yun fights Qin's younger generation and becomes particularly focused on Wang Ben. Their rivalry culminates in a duel in which the wounded Wang Ben ultimately kills Yao Yun, ending the career of the last surviving warrior who had served Xiang Ru Lin from his earliest days.

Xiang Ru Lin is Yao Yun's beloved lord and the commander whose final wishes guide the remainder of his life.

Zhao E Long is Yao Yun's fellow surviving member of the Ten Heroes and complements his offensive role with strategic and defensive expertise.

Wang Ben becomes Yao Yun's principal opponent at Shukai Plains. Their final duel ends with Yao Yun's defeat.

Xin clashes with Yao Yun and represents another member of the generation Xiang Ru Lin foresaw might determine China's future.
