Yamagishi

Yamagishi is confident, ruthless and highly pragmatic. He regards Parasites as dangerous biological machines rather than people and refers to the operation against them as pest control.

He is willing to accept civilian casualties if he believes doing so will prevent Parasites from escaping. His approach contrasts sharply with police officers who remain concerned about the difficulty of distinguishing innocent humans from disguised targets.

Yamagishi is not tactically incompetent. He adapts when circumstances change and recognizes that confined spaces favor certain enemies, but his confidence in conventional firepower causes him to underestimate the limits of his plan.

Yamagishi is an ordinary human without supernatural abilities.

He is an experienced military commander with knowledge of firearms, squad tactics and building-clearing operations. His forces use powerful shotguns designed to destroy the human torsos and hearts on which most Parasites still depend.

Yamagishi coordinates the identification and elimination process at City Hall and personally carries firearms during the operation.

Yamagishi is introduced to Hirama as preparations begin for the operation against Takeshi Hirokawa's organization.

He consults Shinichi Izumi about effective ways of killing Parasites. Shinichi suggests fire because Parasite tissue instinctively recoils from it, but Yamagishi considers flamethrowers too dangerous inside the building.

The operation initially kills numerous Parasites, but Gotou's composite body withstands the task force's weapons. Yamagishi attempts to move the battle to a more favorable position, only for Gotou to overwhelm his soldiers and decapitate him.

Hirama works with Yamagishi during the City Hall operation but disagrees with his tendency to underestimate Parasite intelligence.

Shinichi Izumi provides Yamagishi with information about Parasite weaknesses before the assault.

Uragami is used as an additional Parasite detector despite Yamagishi's initial skepticism about relying on a serial killer.

Gotou overwhelms Yamagishi's task force and kills Yamagishi during the assault.

Takeshi Hirokawa leads the political organization targeted by Yamagishi's operation.
