Verona

Verona is obedient toward Szayelaporro and remains beside the other Fracción while their master fights. Unlike Szayelaporro, however, he forms a genuine emotional attachment to Lumina.

His most significant reaction is grief rather than aggression. When Lumina is used as expendable material, Verona cries openly, showing that the Fracción’s loyalty to one another is not entirely dictated by their creator.

Verona is an Arrancar produced through Szayelaporro’s experiments, but no personal weapon, Resurrección or named combat technique is revealed. He does not directly engage the intruders during his limited appearance.

Like Lumina and the other modified Fracción, his body may have been engineered for a specialized purpose. The manga does not establish that purpose, so his individual combat capacity remains unknown.

Verona appears with Szayelaporro’s attendants during the confrontation with Renji Abarai, Uryu Ishida, Pesche Guatiche and Dondochakka Birstanne. He and Lumina also convey news of Aaroniero Arruruerie’s death.

When Szayelaporro requires emergency restoration, he consumes Lumina in front of Verona and reconstructs his damaged body. Verona begins crying, but Szayelaporro dismisses his distress by promising to create another Lumina. Verona’s subsequent fate is not established.

Lumina is Verona’s closest companion, and his grief at her loss provides his clearest individual characterization. Szayelaporro Granz created both Arrancars and regards them as replaceable experimental assets.

Medazeppi is another member of the same Fracción. Renji Abarai, Uryu Ishida, Pesche Guatiche and Dondochakka Birstanne oppose their master, while Aaroniero Arruruerie’s death is reported by Verona and his companion.
