Uraurashima

Uraurashima is deceptive and cowardly beneath his theatrical appearance. He attempts to gain Kurama's sympathy by claiming that circumstances have forced him to fight against his will.

The performance is calculated to lower Kurama's guard. Once he believes he has created an opening, Uraurashima immediately attempts to exploit it with a magical artifact rather than relying on a fair exchange of attacks.

His confidence collapses when his plan produces an opponent far more dangerous than the one he intended to weaken.

Uraurashima uses the Reverse Treasure Box, called the Idunn Box in the English anime. When opened, it releases smoke capable of reversing the age of those caught inside its effect.

His intended strategy is to reduce Kurama to infancy, leaving him defenseless. The box instead interacts unexpectedly with Kurama's unusual history.

Uraurashima also fights with a fishing rod, another element modeled after the Urashima Tarou folktale from which his character concept is derived.

Uraurashima represents Team Uraotogi against Kurama during the semifinals. He begins by presenting himself as an unwilling participant and appeals to Kurama's sympathy.

After gaining an opening, he activates the Reverse Treasure Box. Rather than turning Kurama into an infant, the artifact reverses his physical history far enough to restore his former demon body as Yoko Kurama.

Terrified by the transformation, Uraurashima begins revealing information about the team's magical equipment. Before he can explain too much, Shishiwakamaru kills him to prevent him from divulging their secrets.

His appearance is itself part of a disguise; after his defeat, his underlying lesser-demon form is exposed.

Kurama is Uraurashima's semifinal opponent and the target of his Reverse Treasure Box.

Shishiwakamaru is Uraurashima's teammate and silences him when he begins revealing information after his plan fails.

Kuro Momotaro, Makintaro and Onji are Uraurashima's fellow members of Team Uraotogi.
