Turbo Granny is crude, sadistic, argumentative, and intensely proud of her speed. She enjoys humiliating challengers and has no problem cheating when a contest begins turning against her. Her vulgar speech quickly becomes one of her defining traits.

That aggression coexists with an unexpectedly compassionate side. Seiko explains that Turbo Granny was drawn to places where young girls had died horribly and attempted to comfort their spirits. Her presence in Shono City is therefore not merely predatory; she had formed a bond with the collective spirit inhabiting the tunnel.

Once forced into regular contact with Momo's group, Turbo Granny becomes a cantankerous adviser. She insults almost everyone around her but possesses enough knowledge of spirits to recognize threats that the teenagers do not understand.

Turbo Granny's signature ability is immense speed. She can run continuously at approximately 100 km/h and maintain that velocity even through turns, making her unusually difficult to escape on foot or by ordinary vehicle.

Her curse allows her to possess victims who attempt to flee. A possessed person can transform into a distorted likeness of Turbo Granny and gain access to her tremendous speed while losing normal control of their body.

She can also move in spiritual form, possess humans or other spirits, and communicate through supernatural spaces created by her curse. Turbo Granny is capable of traveling through telephone connections by exploiting the spiraling electromagnetic fields around electrical current.

When associated with the maneki-neko doll, she gains an unusual luck-related effect. Good or bad fortune can shift unpredictably around her, although she cannot reliably choose who benefits.

While fused with the Earthbound Spirit Crab, Turbo Granny also gains control over the spirit's territory in Shono City, enabling environmental manipulation and coordination with other local spirits.

Turbo Granny is the first major yokai Okarun confronts. After he enters her tunnel to prove that ghosts exist, she curses him and steals part of what he most wants returned, forcing Momo and Okarun to challenge her directly.

Momo and Okarun eventually exploit the limits of Turbo Granny's territory and Seiko's barrier preparations to defeat her. The confrontation nevertheless produces an unexpected problem: portions of Turbo Granny's supernatural power remain connected to Okarun.

Her consciousness later ends up inside a maneki-neko doll. From that point forward, Turbo Granny shifts from principal antagonist to reluctant adviser while Okarun and Momo search for what was lost during the curse.

She becomes increasingly integrated into the Ayase household, contributing knowledge whenever the group encounters unfamiliar spirits.

Much later in the manga, the arrangement between Turbo Granny and Okarun changes significantly once the original conditions surrounding her stolen power are finally resolved.

Ken Takakura is Turbo Granny's original curse victim and later the principal user of power derived from her supernatural abilities.

Momo Ayase becomes one of Turbo Granny's primary opponents and later one of the people with whom she regularly lives.

Seiko Ayase understands Turbo Granny's history better than most people and is responsible for designing the exorcism strategy used against her.

Jibakurei Kani is the collective earthbound spirit Turbo Granny befriends and fuses with inside Shono City.

Aira Shiratori frequently clashes verbally with Turbo Granny after becoming involved in Momo's supernatural circle.
