Toyo

Toyo is proud, hardworking, outspoken, and extremely serious about his food. He reacts with genuine offense when Tanjiro Kamado drops a bowl of freshly prepared udon and runs away without eating it.

His anger disappears once Tanjiro returns, apologizes, and orders replacement bowls. Seeing the boy enthusiastically finish both servings restores Toyo's good mood almost immediately.

Toyo's attachment to Asakusa is also important to him. He was born and raised there and operates his cart partly because he wants to continue living in the district he loves.

Toyo is an ordinary human with no combat or supernatural abilities.

His professional expertise is cooking. He specializes in udon and can also prepare soba, although he guards the recipe for his broth and refuses to teach it to others.

Tanjiro encounters Toyo after becoming overwhelmed by the lights, crowds, and unfamiliar modernity of Asakusa. He retreats toward the quieter edge of the district and orders food from Toyo's cart.

Before eating, Tanjiro catches the scent of Muzan Kibutsuji, recognizes it as the smell connected to his family's attack, and immediately pursues it. His abandoned bowl leaves Toyo furious.

Tanjiro later returns with Nezuko Kamado. When Toyo tries to serve Nezuko as well, Tanjiro orders and eats a second bowl himself to avoid revealing why she cannot eat ordinary food.

Tanjiro Kamado becomes Toyo's unusual customer during the Asakusa mission. Toyo initially scolds him for wasting food but becomes pleased when Tanjiro returns and enthusiastically eats two bowls.

Nezuko Kamado accompanies Tanjiro when he returns to the cart. Toyo does not know that she is a demon and simply assumes she should be offered food like any other customer.
