Tatsumasa Miki

Miki is competitive but places considerable importance on how baseball is played. He wants to win with teammates whose success can be shared rather than simply functioning inside Daimon's rigid system.

He is also capable of independent judgment during games. When circumstances demand a different play from the one Daimon ordered, Miki follows the situation in front of him rather than obeying mechanically. That decision reveals both his baseball awareness and his unwillingness to surrender responsibility for his own play.

His later attitude toward Yuuhei Azuma shows that he does not hold a grudge against former teammates simply because their paths diverge.

Miki is an excellent right-handed batter with enough speed and consistency to serve as Seishuu's leadoff hitter. He initially plays center field and wears number 8.

His broader baseball ability extends to pitching. After changing schools, Miki develops into Sena Municipal's ace pitcher, wears number 1 and also serves as the team's cleanup batter. The combination makes him unusually versatile, capable of occupying central roles on both offense and defense.

He also possesses enough understanding of the game to help guide less accomplished teammates. At Sena, which lacks a proper dedicated coach, he effectively takes on player-coaching responsibilities while remaining the team's ace.

Miki initially represents the genuine talent within Daimon's recruited varsity. During a game, however, he disregards an instruction and makes the baseball decision he believes gives the team the best chance. Daimon responds by demoting him despite the play being successful.

The dispute ultimately leads Miki to transfer from Seishuu to Sena Municipal High School, where he rebuilds himself as an ace pitcher and cleanup hitter.

His new team later meets Kurokoma Jitsugyo, now coached by Daimon. Sena defeats Daimon's stronger collection of recruited players, giving Miki a victory over the coach whose philosophy had driven him away from Seishuu.

Shuugo Daimon recruits Miki to Seishuu and initially gives him an important role on the varsity. Their relationship collapses when Miki makes the correct situational play against orders and is punished for it, eventually prompting his transfer.

Yuuhei Azuma is one of Miki's most prominent Seishuu teammates. Yuuhei Azuma respects Miki's ability, and the two are able to speak candidly about the kind of baseball they want to play.

Kou Kitamura becomes part of the Seishuu team Miki leaves behind. Their paths later differ as each becomes the ace pitcher of his respective school.
