Takumi Aldini

Takumi is proud, competitive and easily provoked when his abilities or family are challenged. He takes his rivalry with Sōma extremely seriously and repeatedly looks for opportunities to establish which of them is the superior chef.

Outside competition, Takumi is considerate and dependable. He is particularly protective of Isami and never treats his brother as an inferior assistant despite being the more visibly celebrated of the pair. Attacks on Isami's pride can anger Takumi more than insults directed at himself.

Takumi also takes considerable pride in his appearance and Italian heritage. His dramatic behavior sometimes makes his rivalry with Sōma appear one-sided, particularly because Sōma responds to Takumi's challenges far more casually than Takumi expects.

Takumi specializes in Italian cuisine developed through years of practical work at Trattoria Aldini. Unlike a chef trained only through school exercises, he enters Tōtsuki already accustomed to serving real customers under restaurant conditions.

His signature instrument is the mezzaluna. Takumi handles the curved double-gripped blade at high speed, using it to mince and process ingredients with exceptional efficiency. His familiarity with olive oil and traditional Italian ingredients is similarly advanced.

Takumi is not rigidly bound to classical Italian recipes. Like Sōma, he adapts techniques and ingredients from outside his original specialty when necessary. His ability to improvise becomes increasingly important as he encounters opponents capable of studying and countering established recipes.

Takumi meets Sōma during the training camp and recognizes the similarities between their backgrounds. Both have spent years cooking in family restaurants, prompting Takumi to establish a rivalry that continues throughout their Tōtsuki careers.

During the Autumn Elections, Takumi advances into the main tournament and faces Subaru Mimasaka. Provoked by Subaru's insults toward Isami, Takumi stakes his treasured mezzaluna in their Shokugeki. Subaru's perfected imitation anticipates Takumi's attempted improvements, and Takumi loses both the match and his knife. Sōma subsequently defeats Subaru and recovers it, but Takumi asks Sōma to hold the mezzaluna until he can properly earn it back.

Takumi later joins the Rebel faction against Central and fights in the Régiment de Cuisine. He ultimately becomes one of the new Elite Ten after the Rebels' victory, occupying the Seventh Seat.

Isami Aldini is Takumi's younger twin brother, lifelong cooking partner and closest companion. Takumi is fiercely protective of him and takes great pride in his abilities.

Sōma Yukihira is Takumi's self-declared rival. Their similar restaurant backgrounds create a competitive bond that gradually develops into mutual respect and friendship.

Subaru Mimasaka becomes a bitter opponent after targeting Takumi and insulting Isami Aldini before their Autumn Elections match.

Megumi Tadokoro becomes one of Takumi's trusted classmates and later fights alongside him during the academy's internal conflict.

Erina Nakiri eventually becomes an important ally as Takumi joins the students opposing Central.
