Personality
Personality
Takasuke is presented as a political operator within the increasingly dysfunctional Kamakura government. He participates in the concentration of practical authority around the Nagasaki family while Takatoki displays little enthusiasm for governing personally.
The series gives Takasuke relatively little individual characterization compared with the major warriors surrounding Tokiyuki. His importance lies primarily in his political position and family role within the old shogunate.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
Takasuke belongs to the upper ranks of the Kamakura shogunate's warrior administration. His influence comes principally from political authority, family connections and his position close to the Houjou leadership rather than from a supernatural or exaggerated combat ability.
Canon does not establish a distinctive named fighting technique for him.
Story Role
Story Role
Takasuke appears during the opening depiction of the Kamakura government. He and his father are among the powerful retainers exercising influence around Takatoki before Takauji's rebellion suddenly destroys the regime.
Their position helps establish the political weakness underlying the apparently peaceful Kamakura of Tokiyuki's childhood. Authority has become concentrated among competing retainers while the ruling structure itself is vulnerable to a sufficiently powerful revolt.
When Kamakura falls to the anti-shogunate forces, Takasuke shares the fate of the Houjou leadership and the retainers who remain with the collapsing government.
