Taiga Kamiya

Kamiya is boastful, competitive and convinced of his own speed. He readily identifies himself as the player opponents should fear most and speaks as though Misaki's success revolves around him.

His confidence is not entirely baseless: a 4.6-second 40-yard dash makes him genuinely fast by high-school standards. The problem is that he tends to treat speed as an answer in itself rather than one component of a larger offensive system.

He also enjoys conspicuous possessions and presentation, matching the self-promotional personality he displays in interviews.

Kamiya's principal weapon is straight-line speed. His 4.6-second 40-yard dash makes him one of the faster running backs entering the Kanto Tournament.

His long-legged running stride is the feature he most frequently emphasizes. At 58 kg, however, he lacks the power associated with heavier backs and depends heavily on creating separation rather than winning collisions.

Unlike runners who combine speed with specialized evasive techniques, Kamiya's approach is comparatively direct.

Kamiya leads the Misaki Wolves into the Kanto Tournament after they qualify as Hokkaido's representative. His pregame confidence presents the Wolves as an ambitious regional challenger.

Their opponent is the Seibu Wild Gunmen, whose offense includes another elite runner in Riku Kaitani.

In the manga, Seibu overwhelms Misaki 82–14 and Riku decisively demonstrates the difference between their running ability. The anime expands the match substantially, with Misaki taking an early lead before Seibu recovers to win 48–21.
