Tadashi Mutou

Mutou is serious and team-oriented. He does not seek the attention that naturally follows Maki, Jin or Nobunaga Kiyota, instead performing the responsibilities expected of a Kainan starter.

He displays the confidence associated with a player accustomed to competing for the prefectural championship. Kainan's culture demands consistency, and Mutou rarely behaves as though individual recognition matters more than maintaining the team's standards.

His observations of other teams also show basketball awareness. During the national tournament, he is able to evaluate Sannoh's players and recognize the depth of talent Shohoku is facing.

Mutou is an all-around forward capable of shooting, defending, running the floor and moving the ball. He lacks the specialized scoring identity of Jin or the overwhelming creation ability of Maki, but contributes without creating obvious weaknesses for opponents to exploit.

His versatility is particularly useful to Kainan because the team's offense revolves around Maki's penetration and the opportunities it creates. Mutou can occupy complementary spaces and make the straightforward play when defenses concentrate on the stars.

As a senior starter on Kanagawa's strongest established program, he also possesses considerable competitive experience.

Mutou appears as part of Kainan's starting unit during the prefectural tournament. His presence helps establish the depth surrounding Maki: Kainan is dangerous not simply because it possesses a superstar but because its supporting players consistently execute their roles.
