Sushiko Maki

Sushiko is poised, courteous and usually difficult to fluster. Her formal manner distinguishes her from several of the louder personalities around Goha 7th Elementary, and she takes responsibility when her actions accidentally inconvenience someone else.

She approaches life through culinary metaphors, particularly the construction of rolled sushi. That philosophy carries directly into her Dueling style and gives her a distinctive way of interpreting competition.

Around people she knows well, Sushiko can be considerably less formal. Her disagreements over television and food show that her elegant public bearing does not prevent her from becoming stubborn about personal preferences.

Sushiko is a skilled sushi chef with extensive knowledge of preparing and appreciating food. Her friendship with Menzaburo is rooted partly in their respective culinary specialties.

Her Rush Duel Deck uses Sushi Angel monsters, including Sushi Angel Monkey Roll, Sushi Angel Spider Roll and Sushi Angel Dragon Roll. Garibel the Extra Premium Sushi Angel serves as her principal ace.

The Deck manipulates Life Points in unusual ways. Rather than simply trying to reduce the opponent's LP as quickly as possible, Sushiko can increase them and then exploit the difference between the two players' totals to activate effects.

Sushiko is first referenced through Menzaburo before appearing personally among the growing circle of characters surrounding Goha 7th Elementary.

She becomes more prominent during the group's training period, where she Rush Duels Romin Kirishima. The match showcases Sushiko's Sushi Angel strategy and forces Romin to contend with an opponent who deliberately manipulates Life Points in unconventional ways.

Sushiko remains a recurring member of the supporting cast afterward, appearing alongside Menzaburo and other friends during later Rush Duel events.

Menzaburo Omori is Sushiko's friend and fellow food specialist. Their respective expertise in sushi and ramen gives them a natural culinary connection.

Romin Kirishima becomes Sushiko's Rush Duel opponent during the group's training. Sushiko also feels responsible when circumstances involving food cause difficulties for Romin Kirishima.

Roa Kirishima makes use of Sushiko's culinary skills as part of one of his plans involving his cousin.

Lucidien "Luke" Kallister later encounters Sushiko in Rush Dueling as part of the wider group of duelists surrounding Goha 7th Elementary.
