Stout

Stout is serious and discreet during his brief appearance. His work requires him to maintain a covert position inside an organization that routinely eliminates suspected traitors, leaving little room for open communication with his true employers.

He remains focused while contacting MI6 from London. The film provides little information about his personal life or temperament beyond the discipline required for undercover intelligence work.

Stout is a professional intelligence operative capable of infiltrating the Black Organization without immediately exposing his allegiance to MI6. Maintaining that cover indicates experience with clandestine work, secure communications and intelligence gathering.

He communicates with his superiors in English and uses an earpiece while reporting from a London sightseeing bus. No specialized combat technique or exceptional physical ability is demonstrated during his brief appearance.

His infiltration is substantial enough that the Black Organization has treated him as one of its own operatives. Once Curaçao obtains a list identifying undercover agents inside the organization, however, Stout's cover is compromised.

Stout appears during the opening sequence of The Darkest Nightmare as the Black Organization moves against intelligence agents who have infiltrated its ranks. He is in London aboard a sightseeing bus while communicating with MI6.

His presence establishes the international scale of the intelligence breach. Other exposed operatives are targeted in different countries as the organization rapidly acts on information identifying spies within its membership.

Stout is assassinated by Korn while aboard the London bus. Korn fires from a distant position and shoots him through the head, eliminating him before he can escape after his identity as an MI6 infiltrator has been exposed.

His exposure is tied to information obtained by Curaçao during her infiltration of the National Police Agency. The resulting purge also targets Aquavit of Canada's CSIS and Riesling of Germany's BND, demonstrating how extensively foreign intelligence agencies had penetrated the Black Organization.

Korn knows Stout as a fellow member of the Black Organization and had apparently relied on him in the past. [After learning that Stout is an MI6 infiltrator, Korn assassinates him in London and expresses regret that he had trusted him.](#spoiler)

Aquavit and Riesling occupy positions similar to Stout's: they are foreign intelligence agents who have infiltrated the Black Organization. All three are exposed during the same intelligence breach and targeted by the organization in different countries.
