Shidou Tennouji

Tennouji is intense, disciplined and completely devoted to sumo. He believes his position at the top is something that must be justified continuously through harder training rather than treated as proof that he can relax.

His confidence is therefore backed by work rather than empty arrogance. Tennouji loves sumo, studies his opponents and expects himself to remain prepared for anyone capable of threatening his position.

As captain, he sets the standard for Tottori Hakurou's competitive culture. His teammates train within an environment where winning the national championship is expected rather than treated as an unlikely dream.

Tennouji is one of the strongest amateur wrestlers in Japan during the high-school portion of the story. His National Treasure epithet, Doujikiri Yasutsuna, reflects a record that includes repeated High School Yokozuna victories and success against older competition.

He has no glaring dependence on a single style. His size and power allow him to compete directly against heavyweight opponents, while his technical understanding prevents more specialized wrestlers from easily exploiting him.

Tennouji's greatest strength is the completeness of his sumo. He combines power, balance, technique, stamina, match analysis and competitive composure at a level few high-school wrestlers can match.

He is also relentless about preparation. Rather than relying on his established reputation, he studies potential rivals and continues refining his wrestling even after reaching the top.

Tennouji is introduced as the reigning figure in high-school sumo and the captain of the team Oodachi ultimately needs to overcome at the national level.

His record gives the National Treasures a hierarchy: being recognized as one of the generation's elite does not automatically place a wrestler on Tennouji's level.

The national tournament eventually brings Oodachi into direct competition with Tottori Hakurou. Tennouji's presence forces Hinomaru and his teammates to confront a team whose captain has already achieved many of the amateur accomplishments they are pursuing.

After high school, Tennouji enters professional sumo under the shikona Doujikiri Yasutsuna and continues his rivalry with the other National Treasures in the professional ranks.

Saki Tennouji is Tennouji's younger sister and serves as a manager for Tottori Hakurou. She also gathers information on professional stables while her brother prepares for his future career.

Shouhei Kanou is one of Tennouji's strongest teammates and a major contributor to Tottori Hakurou's dominance.

Masaomi Shuutou is another member of the Tottori Hakurou lineup under Tennouji's captaincy.

Hinomaru Ushio emerges as one of the challengers attempting to overthrow Tennouji's position at the top of high-school sumo.

Sousuke Kuze is another National Treasure whose extraordinary ability places him among the wrestlers capable of challenging the established hierarchy.
