Sedokan

Sedokan is cautious, deceptive and keenly aware of his physical limitations. He freely acknowledges that he dislikes fighting and strenuous physical activity, so he constructs his contest around a game he believes he can manipulate.

His confidence depends heavily on controlling the rules. Sedokan prepares two candles, one of which has been tampered with, and expects the setup to force Gon into a disadvantage regardless of which candle is selected.

He nevertheless underestimates unconventional thinking. Gon does not attempt to solve Sedokan's trick in the manner anticipated and instead finds a direct way to make the underlying deception irrelevant.

Sedokan displays no Nen ability and is not portrayed as a capable hand-to-hand combatant. His principal strengths are trickery, preparation and an understanding of how to manipulate an opponent through apparently simple rules.

His candle contest is rigged. One candle burns much faster than the other, creating a situation in which Sedokan expects to benefit from whichever candle Gon chooses.

Gon counters the scheme physically rather than intellectually dissecting every aspect of it. After discovering that his own candle burns unusually quickly, he runs toward Sedokan while shielding the flame and extinguishes Sedokan's candle, winning because his own remains lit.

Sedokan participates in the prisoners' five-on-five challenge along the Majority Rules route through Trick Tower. The prisoners receive sentence reductions based on how long they can delay the applicants, giving them an incentive to prolong each encounter.

After Tonpa immediately surrenders his opening match against Bendot, Sedokan faces Gon. He proposes that both competitors light candles and that the person whose flame remains burning longer wins.

Sedokan's trick initially appears successful when Gon's candle begins burning rapidly, but Gon recognizes that the rules require only that his own flame outlast Sedokan's. He rushes across the arena and blows out Sedokan's candle, evening the overall score.

Gon Freecss is Sedokan's opponent. Sedokan attempts to defeat him through a rigged candle game, but Gon's simple and unconventional solution overturns the trick.

Bendot, Majitani, Leroute and Johness are Sedokan's fellow prisoners in the five-person team assigned to delay the candidates.

Lippo is the examiner and prison warden responsible for the Trick Tower phase and the arrangement that allows prisoners to reduce their sentences by delaying applicants.
