Sameko

Sameko is temperamental and somewhat distrustful of outsiders. She becomes irritated with Kashima after learning that he has been friendly toward visiting humans, showing that she is less immediately welcoming toward Team Natsu than her partner.

Her characterization is deliberately brief, with most of her appearances tied to Kashima and the wider population of Ermina rather than an independent storyline.

Sameko can transform between human and shark-like forms through the transformations associated with Mercphobia's magic. Her aquatic form resembles a shark while retaining distinctive human-like features, including hair and makeup.

Her sea-creature form allows her to breathe underwater, an essential ability in Ermina once the tide rises and the town becomes submerged.

Sameko is first mentioned when Kashima abruptly remembers that he is supposed to meet her after checking Team Natsu into Hotel Journey. She subsequently appears during the group's exploration of submerged Ermina, where her shark form demonstrates that Kashima is far from the only resident capable of changing into an aquatic creature.

When Mercphobia's power becomes unstable and Ermina is endangered, Sameko is caught in the resulting destruction while searching for Kashima. Natsu intervenes during the chaos, connecting the town's ordinary residents directly to the stakes of the Water Dragon God's loss of control.

Kashima is Sameko's romantic partner. Their date is mentioned almost immediately after Team Natsu arrives in Ermina, although Sameko becomes annoyed by Kashima's friendliness toward the human visitors.

Mercphobia is the Water Dragon God whose magic shapes Sameko's life alongside that of Ermina's other residents.

Natsu Dragneel encounters Sameko during the crisis surrounding Mercphobia and helps her when the town begins collapsing under the effects of the Water Dragon God's uncontrolled power.
