Saga

Saga is naturally friendly, honorable, ambitious, and deeply interested in swordsmanship. Losing the use of his right arm devastates him because fighting with a sword had been central to his identity.

Maya helps him recover emotionally after he reaches Asuka Island, giving him a strong personal attachment to both her and the village.

Saga is an accomplished swordsman whose skills predate his arrival on Asuka Island. His connection to the Seven Stars Sword dramatically increases the danger he poses.

The sword corrupts and increasingly controls Saga, granting him supernatural power while eroding his original personality. Its influence also allows him to extend its control through other swordsmen and Marines.

Saga's past with Zoro gives the Straw Hat swordsman a personal connection to the conflict on Asuka Island.

After taking up the Seven Stars Sword to protect Maya during a pirate attack, Saga falls under its influence. The possessed swordsman attempts to unleash the sword's full power, forcing Zoro and Luffy to confront both Saga and the supernatural force controlling him.

Roronoa Zoro is Saga's childhood friend and fellow swordsman.

Maya becomes one of the most important people in Saga's life after he reaches Asuka Island and helps him recover from despair. Touma, Lacos, and Bismarck serve under Saga while affected by the Seven Stars Sword's influence.
