Rosa

Rosa is practical, protective and capable of taking up a weapon when her community is threatened. She is far less interested in Vash's official reputation than in the man she has previously encountered, and she readily helps him when the July Military Police confrontation endangers the town.

Her priorities center on her family and Jeneora Rock. That attachment also means her feelings toward Vash can change when association with him appears to bring catastrophic danger to the people she is trying to protect.

Rosa is an ordinary human without supernatural abilities. She is nevertheless comfortable handling a firearm and joins other residents in defending Jeneora Rock when necessary.

She possesses the .22-caliber cartridge Vash desperately needs during his confrontation with the July Military Police. Passing that single bullet to Meryl Stryfe gives Vash the means to prevent the falling munitions from destroying the settlement.

Rosa's practical importance otherwise comes from her place in the community rather than combat expertise.

Rosa is among the first Jeneora Rock residents encountered by Vash, Meryl and Roberto De Niro. Her familiarity with Vash immediately complicates the reporters' expectations of the supposedly terrifying outlaw.

She helps during the military police crisis and later becomes involved when the Nebraska father-and-son team targets the settlement's Plant.

Knives subsequently attacks Jeneora Rock, takes its Plant and devastates the town. After surviving the destruction and finding Tonis badly injured, Rosa blames Vash for bringing the catastrophe to them and tells him to leave.

Tonis is Rosa's son, and protecting him is one of her strongest concerns. Tonis is badly injured during Knives's destruction of Jeneora Rock, intensifying Rosa's grief and anger toward Vash.

Vash the Stampede is someone Rosa knows from his earlier travels. She initially welcomes and helps him despite his reputation. After Jeneora Rock is devastated by Knives, she blames Vash for drawing the disaster to their home and orders him to leave.

Meryl Stryfe receives Rosa's final .22-caliber bullet and passes it to Vash during the military police confrontation.

Roberto De Niro arrives in Jeneora Rock with Meryl while investigating Vash.

Millions Knives becomes a direct threat to Rosa and her community. His attack destroys much of Jeneora Rock and deprives the settlement of its Plant.
