Personality
Personality
Rishid is stoic, disciplined and exceptionally loyal. Although physically intimidating, he is far more restrained than many members of the Ghouls and rarely displays cruelty for its own sake.
His defining relationship is with Marik. Rishid considers protecting his younger adoptive brother his purpose, remaining beside him even when Marik's anger leads them far beyond the traditional duties of the Tomb Keepers.
That loyalty does not mean Rishid agrees with everything Marik does. He often functions as a stabilizing presence, attempting to restrain his brother's worst impulses rather than encouraging them.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
Rishid is an experienced duelist specializing in Trap Cards. His strategy relies on setting numerous cards and forcing opponents to attack into carefully prepared combinations.
He makes extensive use of Trap Monsters, allowing cards placed in his Spell and Trap Zone to become monsters once activated. Mystical Beast of Serket is his signature monster, supported by Temple of the Kings.
His patient style suits his personality. Rather than rushing to overwhelm an opponent, Rishid constructs a dangerous field piece by piece and waits for the opponent to trigger his defenses.
Story Role
Story Role
Rishid accompanies Marik and the Ghouls during Battle City, functioning as Marik's most trusted servant and protector. His presence becomes particularly important once the tournament reaches its final stage.
To conceal Marik's identity, Rishid enters the finals while posing as the organization's leader. This places him opposite Jonouchi in one of the tournament's elimination duels.
Marik orders Rishid to use a counterfeit copy of the Winged Dragon of Ra to prove that he is supposedly the true Marik. The counterfeit God Card rejects the attempt, striking Rishid down and leaving him unconscious.
Rishid's condition has consequences far beyond his own duel because his presence had been suppressing Marik's darker personality. Once Rishid can no longer restrain it, that personality emerges and takes control.
Relationships
Relationships
Marik Ishtar is Rishid's adoptive younger brother and the person to whom he devotes most of his life. Rishid remains loyal to Marik Ishtar while simultaneously trying to restrain the destructive side of his personality.
Ishizu Ishtar is Rishid's adoptive younger sister. Ishizu Ishtar and Rishid share a deep concern for Marik Ishtar, even though they respond to his actions in different ways.
Katsuya Jonouchi faces Rishid during the Battle City finals. Their duel becomes a test of Katsuya Jonouchi's aggressive style against Rishid's Trap-heavy strategy.
