Risa Shidou

Risa is arrogant, self-centered and conscious of social status. She regards ordinary managerial work as beneath her and can treat the players, particularly members of the prefab squad, as though they exist to perform errands for her.

Her interest in the team is tied principally to attention. She is willing to tolerate being called its manager if reaching Koshien might put her near reporters and publicity, but she makes little effort to understand the game or assist the players.

Risa is nevertheless capable of recognizing her own shortcomings. Later, she shows some guilt over how little useful work she actually performed while carrying the title of manager.

Risa holds the title of baseball manager but demonstrates little practical knowledge of the sport. When players need ordinary managerial assistance, she often refuses to perform it or does the minimum required.

Her strengths lie instead in presentation and self-promotion. Having spent time overseas, she returns to Seishuu with considerable confidence and later directs her attention toward entertainment rather than baseball.

Risa appears as part of the system established by Daimon and her father. While Daimon concentrates authority over the varsity, Risa receives the manager position without demonstrating the commitment normally associated with it.

Her behavior provides a sharp contrast with Hiroko Oukubo, the prefab manager who willingly cleans equipment, washes uniforms and performs whatever work the players need.

Risa is away in Europe during the decisive rematch between the varsity and prefab squads. After the regular principal returns and her father's influence at Seishuu collapses, she loses her managerial position and begins working at her mother's boutique.

She later passes an audition for a television drama and pursues acting, even establishing a fan club at school.

Eitaro Shidou is Risa's father and the acting principal responsible for bringing Daimon to Seishuu. Risa benefits from Eitaro Shidou's authority and shares his interest in the prestige surrounding a successful Koshien team.

Shuugo Daimon is the coach of the varsity team Risa nominally manages. She is far less interested in Shuugo Daimon's baseball methods than in the attention his success might generate.

Hiroko Oukubo serves as Risa's counterpart on the prefab squad. Their approaches to managing are opposites: Hiroko Oukubo works constantly despite having little status, while Risa enjoys the title without doing much of the work.

Keiichirou Senda directly confronts Risa about her poor attitude after she refuses to provide meaningful help when he needs first aid.
