Eitaro Shidou

Shidou is ambitious, status-conscious and primarily interested in results that enhance his own position. He sees Koshien less as the culmination of the players' work than as a source of prestige for the school.

His attitude toward baseball mirrors his daughter's superficial involvement with the team. During games, he can openly acknowledge that he is uninterested in the sport while still demanding the institutional benefits that success might produce.

Shidou's reliance on Daimon also reveals his preference for quick, externally visible results. He supports a system that privileges recruited talent and sidelines existing players because he believes it offers the fastest route to national recognition.

Shidou is a school administrator rather than a baseball specialist. His authority allows him to influence Seishuu's staffing and extracurricular direction, most notably by bringing Daimon into the baseball program.

No baseball-playing or coaching expertise is established for him. His involvement is administrative and political.

Shidou helps create the central conflict within Seishuu's baseball club during Kou's first year. He brings in Daimon with the expectation that the coach will produce a Koshien-caliber team, enabling Daimon to divide the club between a favored varsity and the players relegated to Maeno's prefab squad.

Shidou supports Daimon's methods because he values the potential prestige of victory more than the development of Seishuu's existing players.

After the prefab team defeats Daimon's favored squad, Chairman Yokomichi Oukubo intervenes. Shidou's financial mismanagement is exposed, and he is transferred away from Seishuu, ending the administrative protection that had sustained Daimon's system.

Risa Shidou is Shidou's daughter. Both Risa Shidou and her father are attracted to the attention surrounding successful baseball rather than to the sport itself.

Shuugo Daimon is the coach Shidou recruits to transform Seishuu into a nationally recognized baseball school. Shidou gives Shuugo Daimon broad support while his results appear capable of advancing that goal.

Yokomichi Oukubo is Seishuu's chairman and possesses authority above Shidou within the school's administration. After the prefab team's victory exposes the weakness of Shidou's project, the chairman removes him from his position at Seishuu.
