Rin Sawaki

Rin presents herself as conscientious, serious, and responsible. As class representative she tries to maintain order and is willing to stand up to disruptive classmates. This outwardly conventional image contrasts sharply with her private fascination with supernatural romance.

She loves vampire fiction and has an overactive imagination that frequently turns unexpected situations into elaborate vampire scenarios. After witnessing Okarun's transformed appearance, she concludes that he may be a vampire. Her internal fantasies can become so intense that she unknowingly says them aloud, only to become mortified when someone responds.

Rin is also burdened by guilt and a tendency to suppress her own desires for other people's sake. As a child she gave up an opportunity to pursue singing because her family depended on her to care for her grandmother. The experience contributes to her abandoning the dream of becoming an idol despite possessing genuine musical talent.

Her experiences with Momo's group gradually make her more willing to expose the eccentric parts of herself. Even when embarrassed by the circumstances of her supernatural abilities, she shows considerable courage and continues singing under dangerous conditions when others depend on her.

Rin is a naturally talented singer. Her voice impressed her classmates as a child and prompted Mai to invite her into an aspiring idol group. Singing later becomes directly connected to her supernatural capabilities.

She develops spiritual awareness after becoming entangled with Mai's spirit, allowing her to perceive supernatural beings and enter spaces inaccessible to ordinary humans.

After Mai is purified from her hostile Onbusuman form and becomes Rin's guardian spirit, Rin can merge with her and access an idol-themed transformation. Singing generates a localized gravitational field whose effectiveness depends on the quality and duration of Rin's performance.

Within this field, Rin can manipulate gravity in different directions. She can increase downward force to stop attacks, create repulsive force to drive enemies away, and influence people and physical objects. The ability has limited range and drains her stamina; interrupting her song also disrupts the effect.

Her gravity manipulation later receives a substantial temporary enhancement when combined with Kouki Yukishiro's Lord of the Flies ability, demonstrating that Rin's supernatural performance can interact with other powers.

Rin first appears as Okarun's class representative. After witnessing his supernatural transformation at school, her love of vampire fiction causes her to interpret what she sees through that framework.

Her larger role begins when an increasingly heavy supernatural burden attaches itself to her back. Momo and Okarun discover that she is being haunted by an Onbusuman, a spirit associated with carrying another person's emotional burden.

The spirit is revealed to be Mai, Rin's childhood friend. The girls had planned to audition as idols together, but Rin withdrew because she needed to care for her bedridden grandmother. Their final argument ended their friendship shortly before Mai and her mother were killed in a traffic accident, leaving Rin convinced that she was responsible.

Rin and Mai eventually confront their shared regret and reconcile. Rather than passing on completely, Mai becomes Rin's guardian spirit and insists that Rin resume her abandoned dream of becoming an idol. This gives Rin access to Mai's gravity-related powers and makes her a recurring supernatural ally.

Rin later joins the History and Culture Research Club and becomes increasingly involved in the group's battles, including conflicts involving Kouki Yukishiro and the power-collecting conspiracy surrounding the kozuka knives.

Mai Kawabanga was Rin's childhood friend and aspiring idol partner. Their friendship ended after Rin withdrew from an audition to care for her grandmother, and Mai subsequently died in an accident. After their reconciliation, Mai becomes Rin's guardian spirit and aggressively pushes her toward an idol career.

Ken Takakura is Rin's classmate. His supernatural transformation leads her to suspect that he is a vampire, and he later helps her confront the spirit haunting her.

Momo Ayase initially clashes with Rin over misunderstandings involving Okarun, but she helps Rin during the Onbusuman incident and becomes one of her supernatural allies.

Aira Shiratori becomes Rin's ally through Momo's wider group.

Kinta Sakata works alongside Rin after she becomes involved with the History and Culture Research Club.

Kouki Yukishiro becomes closely associated with Rin during the later conflicts surrounding stolen supernatural abilities.

Tadamichi is Rin's father.
