Personality
Personality
Pino is proud, stubborn and highly confident in the strength earned through his training. He reacts badly when he believes an opponent is dismissing the Icemen, interpreting relaxed behavior as disrespect toward the sacrifices that made his team strong.
His pride is not purely arrogance. Pino has repeatedly pushed himself through dangerous training and therefore attaches enormous importance to perseverance. Even when his teammates recognize that a fight is lost, he can struggle to surrender.
Pino is capable of accepting defeat honorably. After losing to Yoh's team, he acknowledges their superior strength without resentment and even finds the experience liberating, recognizing that his own pride had been weighing on him.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
Pino begins with 2,400 Furyoku and eventually reaches 2,500. He is a druid trained in ancient Ulster traditions by his father, with his education centered on techniques associated with the goddess Danu.
His Guardian Ghost is Badbh, a powerful crow goddess from Irish mythology. Pino channels her through a staff made from mistletoe. Badbh can remove heat from her surroundings, instantly lowering temperatures and freezing targets.
The Icemen's real strength comes from cooperation. Zria manipulates water, Pino freezes it and Tona supplements their attacks, allowing the three shamans to construct much larger techniques than their individual Furyoku levels would suggest.
Story Role
Story Role
Pino grows up in Roscommon and studies druidic traditions under his father. His training exposes him repeatedly to severe cold and near-death conditions until he develops the endurance expected of a genuine druid.
He qualifies for the Shaman Fight and forms the Icemen with Zria and Tona. Their official tournament battle pits them against Team Funbari Onsen. Pino initially interprets Yoh Asakura's relaxed attitude as disrespect, but Yoh ultimately defeats the team while fighting seriously enough to preserve their pride.
After their elimination, the Icemen remain involved in events around the tournament and cooperate with Yoh's allies. During the final crisis surrounding Mū, Pino and numerous other shamans are killed when Hao awakens as Shaman King and destroys the Sphinx carrying them. Their souls subsequently join the gathering within the Great Spirit that supports the Five Elemental Warriors.
