Owen is professional, calm, straightforward, and realistic about the limits of his abilities. He treats Asta seriously despite the boy's peasant background and does not allow social standing to affect his medical judgment.

He is also willing to give patients difficult news rather than provide false reassurance. When confronted with injuries that his magic cannot repair, Owen explains the situation plainly. That honesty reinforces his reputation as a physician whose assessments are trusted by the Magic Knights.

Owen uses Water Magic with a strong specialization in Healing Magic. His Qualle Operation creates a jellyfish-like magical construct that lets him examine a patient's internal structures and channel mana into damaged areas.

His medical magic is precise enough to treat extremely severe injuries and reattach badly damaged tissue. Yami Sukehiro trusts him with major injuries, and Owen is described as the kingdom's best healer.

Owen retains additional magical power after being freed from elf possession.

Owen is introduced when Yami brings Asta to him after the battle at the Seabed Temple. Owen examines Asta's arms and determines that an ancient curse has pulverized the bones so thoroughly that conventional Healing Magic cannot restore them.

He later serves among the high-ranking healers stationed at the Royal Knights Selection Exam. After Langris Vaude gravely injures Finral Roulacase, Owen immediately treats Finral and continues stabilizing him away from the battlefield.

During the Elf Reincarnation crisis, Owen is possessed by an elf spirit while traveling with Marx. The two threaten Julius's body before Yami incapacitates them, and Owen is later freed when the reincarnation spell is undone.

Later, Owen examines Asta's devil-related injuries and Gauche Adlai's reconstructed body. His observation that Grey's magic appears to do more than ordinary Transformation Magic helps identify the unusual nature of her ability.

Julius Novachrono employs Owen directly as the Clover Kingdom's premier healer.
