Oka

Oka is intensely fascinated by the supernatural. She talks freely about curses, ghosts and deaths in the hospital, apparently finding subjects fascinating that most patients would rather not hear about while recovering.

Her appearance and manner make these stories particularly effective at frightening people, but she is not simply malicious. Oka shows genuine concern for the people under the hospital's care and can become forceful when she believes someone is interfering with a patient's recovery.

She also has considerable confidence in curses. When apparently improbable events favor people connected to her occult practices, Oka readily accepts supernatural intervention as the explanation.

Oka has no supernatural ability that is definitively established as real. Her knowledge and practice of curses are presented with deliberate ambiguity, allowing coincidences to appear as though her rituals might actually have worked.

Despite her frail appearance, she can display surprising physical strength when angered. This contrast between her appearance and sudden force contributes to the intimidation she exercises over visitors and patients.

Her practical skills are those of a head nurse, and she holds enough responsibility at the hospital to coordinate matters involving patients and their families.

Oka first appears during the hospital material surrounding Haruto Sakuraba and Torakichi, bringing the series' occult humor into an otherwise serious period of recovery and reflection.

She also becomes connected to the Noroi Occults through her son, who plays quarterback for the occult-themed football team. During the Tokyo Fall Tournament, Oka performs a curse against one of Noroi's opponents; a crucial mistake subsequently benefits her son's team, though the story does not establish supernatural causation.

Oka later plays a useful role in circumstances surrounding Gen Takekura and his hospitalized father, showing that beneath her unsettling manner she understands the importance of supporting patients and their families.

Haruto Sakuraba encounters Oka while receiving treatment at the hospital and is subjected to her enthusiasm for frightening supernatural stories.

Torakichi is another of the hospital patients under Oka's care.

Gen Takekura encounters Oka through the hospitalization of his father. Oka assists in circumstances intended to help Gen Takekura resolve the conflict between his family responsibilities and football.

Souma is Oka's son and the quarterback of the Noroi Occults. Oka enthusiastically supports Souma's team through her own occult practices.
