Musashi is serious, practical and exceptionally composed. His construction work and family responsibilities make him appear older than his classmates, both physically and emotionally.

He is also stubborn about accepting help. Even though he wants to return to football, he refuses to abandon obligations simply for his own enjoyment. Hiruma's usual methods of threats and manipulation are much less effective against someone who knows him so well.

Musashi's dry bluntness often hides loyalty. He can criticize Deimon harshly, but his standards reflect how much the original team's dream matters to him.

Musashi is a powerful placekicker whose right leg gives Deimon a scoring option unavailable during much of the team's early development. His construction work also builds substantial general strength, reflected in a 100 kg bench press.

The "60-Yard Magnum" title initially exaggerates his ability. Hiruma creates the claim to intimidate opponents even though Musashi cannot reliably kick from sixty yards at the time.

Musashi can also contribute physically outside kicking situations and is listed as a linebacker. His strength and experience with manual labor make him considerably tougher than his specialist role might suggest.

Musashi is one of the original Devil Bats, but his father becoming seriously ill forces him to leave school and help run the family construction business. Hiruma nevertheless keeps his place on the roster open.

Sena and Monta eventually learn who Musashi is and try to persuade him to return. He refuses to leave his responsibilities merely because the team wants a kicker, but watching Deimon become genuinely competitive revives his desire to play.

Musashi ultimately returns to the Devil Bats, restoring the original trio and giving Deimon a legitimate kicking game. In the manga, his comeback occurs against the Seibu Wild Gunmen; the anime delays it until the Bando Spiders match.

At the Christmas Bowl, the nickname that began as Hiruma's bluff becomes reality when Musashi finally succeeds from sixty yards.

Youichi Hiruma is Musashi's longtime friend and fellow founder. Youichi Hiruma invents the "60-Yard Magnum" reputation but also quietly preserves Musashi's place on the team during his absence.

Ryokan Kurita is the third member of their original group and shares Musashi's dream of taking Deimon to the Christmas Bowl.

Sena Kobayakawa and Tarou Raimon seek Musashi out and attempt to convince him that the rebuilt Devil Bats are worth returning to.

Kotaro Sasaki becomes Musashi's principal kicking rival, contrasting Musashi's raw range with exceptional kicking accuracy.
