Personality
Personality
Nobunaga is loud, argumentative and remarkably petty during his appearance. He pounds on the wall of his room while complaining about Mitsuhide Akechi, reducing one of Japan's most famous historical betrayals to the behavior of irritated neighbors at an inn.
He readily joins conversations with the other historical ghosts, but his willingness to cooperate lasts only as long as doing so remains convenient. The intimidating reputation associated with the historical Nobunaga is deliberately undercut by his behavior at Senbokyo.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
As a ghost, Nobunaga exists as a supernatural Stand and can interact with the other spirits inhabiting Senbokyo.
His historical identity implies experience as a warrior and commander, but Gintama does not give this spectral version an extensive set of individual techniques. His usefulness to Gintoki comes principally from being a powerful spirit available as potential reinforcement.
Story Role
Story Role
Nobunaga is first encountered pounding the wall of his room and complaining about Mitsuhide. In the neighboring room, Mitsuhide simultaneously complains about Hideyoshi Toyotomi, while the chain of grievances extends to Francis Xavier.
Later, Sakata Gintoki and Rei decide to rebel against Oiwa. Knowing that Oiwa and Tagosaku are dangerous supernatural opponents, they recruit Nobunaga, Mitsuhide and Hideyoshi as reinforcements.
When the confrontation begins, the three historical ghosts betray Gintoki and Rei rather than risk themselves fighting Oiwa.
