Nero

Nero is insecure about his magical ability when he begins studying at Magnostadt. Because his spells are limited to the second type of magic, he worries that this narrow affinity means he lacks talent and asks Myers about it directly.

His affinity places him among the Blue Magicians. People aligned with the second type of Rukh are characterized as eccentric and inclined to pursue whatever captures their interest while overlooking matters outside that focus, including subtle expressions of affection.

Nero is a trained magician specializing in Water Magic, the second type of magic. His exclusive affinity for that type initially causes him concern, but specialization itself is part of the magical classification system used at Magnostadt rather than proof that he cannot progress as a magician.

Like trained magicians generally, Nero can rely on the Rukh to construct spells and defensive magic. His studies at Magnostadt are intended to improve both his physical conditioning and his control of magic, beginning with the demanding sixth-Kodor curriculum.

Canon does not establish an extensive set of individually named spells for Nero, so his confirmed specialty remains Water Magic rather than a distinctive personal technique.

Nero enters Magnostadt Academy as one of the sixth-Kodor students training alongside Aladdin. The sixth Kodor is initially treated as the academy's lowest class, and its students undergo Myers's exhausting physical conditioning rather than simply being allowed to compensate for weak bodies with magic.

He subsequently progresses through the academy while Aladdin advances rapidly through its ranking system. Nero remains part of the student population affected by the political and military crisis surrounding Magnostadt and appears again around the conclusion of the conflict.

Aladdin becomes one of Nero's friends while the two study at Magnostadt. They begin together in the sixth Kodor before Aladdin's exceptional progress separates their academic paths.

Myers teaches Nero during his sixth-Kodor training. Nero directly asks her whether his exclusive affinity for second-type magic means that he lacks magical talent.

Sai Lin is another magician studying at Magnostadt and one of Nero's fellow students during the academy storyline.
