Nanami Makuro

Nanami is confident, energetic and deeply devoted to the sea. He treats fishing as a way of life and has earned his position as captain through his ability to catch more fish than his fellow students.

He is protective of the marine environment and becomes angry when he believes someone is polluting the ocean. This concern is sincere rather than simply another part of his fisherman persona.

Nanami frequently uses fishing and water-related expressions while speaking and Dueling. His entire identity—from his school to his Deck and even his speech—is shaped around life at sea.

Nanami is an accomplished fisherman and ship captain. His school travels aboard a vessel, requiring students to develop practical maritime skills in addition to ordinary academic work.

His WATER Fish Deck includes Jet Barracuda, Anchor Moray and Hydrocannon Big Magurom. The strategy uses cards such as Big Ocean to support his aquatic monsters and weaken or pressure opposing forces.

Hydrocannon Big Magurom serves as his primary ace. Its ability to attack directly under the right conditions gives Nanami a method of bypassing opposing monsters and striking at an opponent's Life Points.

Nanami encounters Yuga Ohdo, Lucidien "Luke" Kallister, Gakuto Sogetsu and Romin Kirishima when their activities bring them into contact with Goha Fishing Elementary.

A misunderstanding involving the sea leads Nanami to confront Yuga. The conflict develops into a Rush Duel aboard the school's vessel, giving Yuga his first major battle against a dedicated Fish strategy.

Yuga defeats Nanami, and the misunderstanding surrounding the supposed pollution is resolved. Nanami accepts the result and remains a friendly figure rather than continuing as an adversary.

Yuga Ohdo becomes Nanami's Rush Duel opponent after a misunderstanding concerning the ocean. Once their conflict is resolved, Nanami has no reason to continue treating Yuga Ohdo as an enemy.

Lucidien "Luke" Kallister, Gakuto Sogetsu and Romin Kirishima accompany Yuga Ohdo during the group's encounter with Goha Fishing Elementary and witness Nanami's devotion to the sea.
