Personality
Personality
Momiji is energetic, friendly and outgoing. Despite experiencing major losses while very young, she approaches people easily and retains the lively atmosphere associated with the Tsukishima household.
She is comfortable teasing Kou and talking openly with him, reflecting their sibling-like relationship. She also displays confidence around older children and is rarely intimidated by the baseball players who regularly gather around her family's batting center.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
Momiji is a capable swimmer and participates seriously enough in the sport for swimming to become her principal athletic activity.
She also has experience catching baseballs. When Aoba Tsukishima worries that she has thrown too hard while playing catch, Momiji explains that Kou's pitches are harder, surprising Aoba and indirectly revealing how much velocity Kou has developed.
Although she is comfortable with baseball, the series does not establish her as a competitive baseball player on the level of Aoba.
Story Role
Story Role
Momiji appears from the childhood portion of the story and grows from a kindergartener into an elementary-school student as the older characters reach high school. Her perspective often provides a simple, direct view of situations that the teenagers complicate with rivalry or romantic uncertainty.
As she grows, her resemblance to Wakaba becomes increasingly noticeable. The similarity can momentarily unsettle people who knew Wakaba closely, particularly when Momiji's appearance or mannerisms evoke memories of her late sister.
Momiji also maintains the domestic side of the series through her interactions with Kou, Nomo and the rest of the Tsukishima household.
Relationships
Relationships
Seiji Tsukishima is Momiji's father and raises her alongside her older sisters.
Youko Tsukishima is Momiji's mother. Momiji loses her while still very young and grows up with only limited memories of her.
Ichiyou Tsukishima is Momiji's eldest sister and takes on substantial responsibility for caring for her.
Wakaba Tsukishima is Momiji's second-oldest sister. [As Momiji grows older, her resemblance to Wakaba Tsukishima becomes striking enough to surprise people who knew her sister.](#spoiler)
Aoba Tsukishima is Momiji's immediately older sister and another athlete in the family.
Kou Kitamura has a warm, sibling-like relationship with Momiji. She is comfortable catching Kou Kitamura's pitches and spending time with him despite their age difference.
Nomo is the Tsukishima family's cat and is frequently seen accompanying Momiji.
