Mols

Mols is loyal, practical, courageous, and less talkative than his father. He regularly follows Leif into difficult situations despite the dangers involved in searching war-torn regions for a single missing boy.

He is prepared to defend himself and his companions when threatened. During the ambush involving Askeladd's men, Mols shows a willingness to resist rather than immediately surrender.

His loyalty is particularly apparent in the sheer duration of Leif's search. Mols continues helping his father across years of travel even when there is little certainty that Thorfinn can be found.

Mols is an experienced sailor familiar with long-distance North Atlantic and European travel.

His work also requires knowledge of trading, ships, navigation, cargo handling, and survival during extended voyages.

He possesses basic fighting ability appropriate to a traveling Norseman, but the series does not portray him as an elite warrior.

Mols first accompanies Leif during the expedition that follows Thors's departure from Iceland. Their vessel becomes involved in the events surrounding the ambush arranged by Askeladd.

Years later, Mols remains with Leif as the explorer searches for Thorfinn across territories affected by the Danish conquest.

He later travels to Ketil's farm after Leif finally learns where Thorfinn has been enslaved.

Mols is present when Leif reunites with Thorfinn and subsequently accompanies the group through the aftermath of Canute's attack on Ketil's estate. He continues sailing with Leif during Thorfinn's return to Iceland and later preparations for the westward expedition.

Leif Ericson is Mols's father and longtime traveling companion.

Thorfinn is the missing young man Mols helps Leif search for across many years.

Bug-Eyes becomes Mols's adoptive brother after Leif buys and later adopts the enslaved young man who happens to share Thorfinn's name.

Gudrid is connected to Mols through Leif's wider family and later travels within the same expeditionary circle.
