Personality
Personality
Mei is inventive, assertive, obsessive, shamelessly self-promotional, and almost impossible to discourage. She views failed prototypes as useful information rather than personal failures and immediately begins thinking about the next design.
Social boundaries rarely register when she is excited about engineering. Mei stands uncomfortably close to people, interrupts conversations to discuss equipment, and treats students wearing her inventions as moving advertisements.
Her apparent selfishness is largely directed toward invention rather than status. Mei sincerely believes support engineers participate in heroism by giving heroes the tools required to save people, even if they are never the ones receiving public recognition on the battlefield.

Abilities & Powers
Zoom allows Mei to focus her vision on objects up to approximately five kilometers away. It is useful for detailed observation, testing moving prototypes, and identifying distant targets.
Her real specialty is mechanical engineering. Within months of entering U.A., she creates hundreds of prototypes covering mobility, armor, propulsion, targeting, capture equipment, and other support applications.
Mei can improvise and redesign equipment extraordinarily quickly. Power Loader recognizes her as an exceptional talent and gives her considerable freedom in the Development Studio despite the frequent explosions associated with her experiments.
Story Role
Story Role
Mei first becomes prominent during the U.A. Sports Festival, where Support Course students can use the enormous audience to advertise their inventions to professional companies.
She manipulates Tenya Iida into wearing multiple prototypes during their tournament match, spends the entire fight demonstrating their functions, and then forfeits once she has received enough publicity.
Mei later upgrades equipment for Izuku and other students, including systems that help him develop a fighting style less dependent on repeatedly injuring his arms.
After U.A. becomes a fortified evacuation facility, Mei works with Power Loader on the enormous defensive systems supporting the school. She continues building equipment despite the national collapse around them, explaining that invention is the Support Course's form of heroism.
