Mattan Ginger

Mattan is energetic, highly confident, vain, and strongly attracted to the spotlight. She poses while introducing herself and deliberately turns successful attacks into opportunities to promote her own image.

Missing the Grand Magic Games preliminaries disappoints her, but she quickly reframes the dragon invasion as another chance to stand out before an audience.

She calls herself the "idol of fire and ice" and has an unusual high-pitched speaking style, frequently ending her sentences with "dechi."

Mattan practices two opposing elemental disciplines.

Her Ice Magic can freeze targets in her path and fire concentrated icy beams. She demonstrates enough power to freeze several of Motherglare's miniature dragons at once.

Her Fire Magic produces crimson flames capable of completely burning those same creatures after she freezes them. Switching immediately from ice to fire lets Mattan combine the two disciplines effectively despite their contrasting properties.

Although she is not presented as one of Fiore's elite mages, the combination makes her unusually versatile among Twilight Ogre's rank-and-file members.

Mattan first appears unnamed during the dragon invasion of Crocus, joining Twilight Ogre and other guilds in attacking the dragon Levia.

Her proper introduction follows when Motherglare releases numerous miniature dragons across the city. Mattan complains briefly about missing the Sky Labyrinth preliminaries before realizing the invasion gives her a new opportunity to attract attention.

She freezes several miniature dragons, burns them immediately afterward, and proudly announces herself and Twilight Ogre to the watching crowd.

Mattan later fights alongside former Phantom Lord mages Sue and Bozu against additional miniature dragons.

She reappears during the Tartaros crisis, helping other mages attack one of the Face weapons.

During the final battle with Acnologia, Mattan and other mages contribute their Magic Power through Meredy's connection so Lucy can sustain Fairy Sphere around the Dragon King.

Banaboster is Mattan's Guild Master in Twilight Ogre.

Motherglare produces the creatures against which Mattan most clearly demonstrates her Fire and Ice Magic.

Lucy Heartfilia later receives Magic Power contributed by Mattan and other allied mages during the attempt to seal Acnologia.
