Lotta

Lotta is affectionate toward her family and participates in the ordinary work required to maintain their rural household.

Her limited screen time centers on the warmth and familiarity of family life rather than giving her an independent ambition or conflict. That domestic normality is important because it establishes what Einar values before his life changes.

Lotta has no combat training or exceptional physical abilities.

She contributes to a farming household and is familiar with the routine labor necessary for rural survival, including helping with domestic and agricultural responsibilities.

Lotta appears at the beginning of Einar's story as part of his family in northern England. Their household has already experienced the consequences of warfare, but Einar remains determined to defend what remains.

A Viking raid overwhelms the settlement. Lotta is killed while Einar is attempting to protect his family, and Einar is captured and sold into slavery.

Memories of Lotta and Emma remain central to Einar's hatred of war and slavery. His later attachment to Arnheid is shaped partly by the family bonds he lost before arriving at Ketil's farm.

Einar is Lotta's older brother and is deeply protective of her.

Emma is Lotta's mother and the head of their household after the loss of Einar's father.
