Personality
Personality
Kyotoku is expressive, sentimental, easygoing, and considerably softer than the stern image he initially attempts to project around strangers.
Music is central to his identity. He loves rock, works professionally as a composer, and shares that enthusiasm with both his wife and daughter. The Jiro household's encouragement helps explain why Kyoka develops serious musical ability despite ultimately choosing professional heroism.
Kyotoku is also protective without being controlling. When Kyoka decides that she wants to become a hero rather than pursue music professionally, he does not treat her choice as rejection of the family's interests.
He respects Mika's musical talent enormously and is established to have taken the Jiro surname after marrying her.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
Kyotoku's Quirk has not been revealed in canon.
His established professional ability is musical composition. He is an experienced musician and composer capable of working in the music industry rather than merely playing recreationally.
His musical background contributes directly to Kyoka's development. She grows up surrounded by instruments and parents capable of teaching and encouraging her across multiple forms of music.
Story Role
Story Role
Kyotoku becomes prominent when Shouta Aizawa and All Might visit Class 1-A families after the forest training camp attack.
U.A. asks parents for permission to move students into the Heights Alliance dormitories, a security measure intended to reduce the danger posed by further villain attacks.
Kyotoku initially attempts to act intimidating toward the teachers, presenting himself as a stern father reluctant to simply surrender responsibility for his daughter.
His performance quickly gives way to his actual personality. Both he and Mika ultimately support Kyoka's continued education at U.A. and trust her desire to become a hero.
Relationships
Relationships
Kyoka Jiro is Kyotoku's daughter. He shares her love of rock music and supports her decision to pursue hero work instead of forcing her toward a musical career.
Mika Jiro is Kyotoku's wife and a musician whose talent strongly attracted him to her.
Shouta Aizawa visits the Jiro household to discuss U.A.'s new dormitory system.
All Might accompanies Aizawa during the same visit, much to Kyotoku's poorly concealed excitement as a fan.
