Kyou no Chichi

Kyou's father is angry, resentful and unwilling to accept responsibility for the damage within his family. He treats Kyou's curse as an explanation for his own unhappiness and repeatedly dehumanizes his son rather than confronting his own behavior.

His bitterness extends beyond fear of the Cat's supernatural form. He resents the social consequences attached to having the Cat born into his household and allows that resentment to define his relationship with both his wife and child.

He remains fixated on punishment even after years of separation, making him a stark contrast to Kazuma, who sees Kyou as a child deserving affection rather than a curse requiring containment.

Kyou's father has no established supernatural abilities and is not identified as one of the Zodiac members.

His significance comes from the authority and prejudice surrounding the Cat within the Souma family. He supports the traditional system that treats the Cat's confinement as inevitable.

Kyou's father is initially important through his absence and the emotional damage associated with Kyou's childhood. His rejection helps explain why Kazuma becomes Kyou's true parental figure.

He later appears directly in discussions about the Cat's expected future. Kazuma Souma opposes his insistence that family tradition should determine what happens to Kyou after graduation.
