Kie Kamado

Kie is caring, patient, hardworking, and attentive to her children. Her early interactions with Tanjiro Kamado show a mother accustomed to managing a large household while respecting the responsibilities her eldest son has taken on.

She encourages Tanjiro to remain home when heavy snow makes travel dangerous, but accepts his decision to sell charcoal because she understands the family's financial needs. Her relationship with the children is affectionate rather than authoritarian.

Later memories reinforce the sense of security associated with Kie. Nezuko Kamado, in particular, retains fragments of her mother's voice and lullabies even after becoming a demon.

Kie has no established combat abilities or Breathing Style. She lives as an ordinary human and manages the Kamado household after her husband's death.

She does possess knowledge of the mountain and its plant life. Supplemental canon establishes that Kie knew the location where Blue Spider Lilies could bloom, information that would have been extraordinarily valuable to Muzan Kibutsuji had he known she possessed it.

Her abilities are otherwise domestic and practical, reflecting the Kamado family's isolated mountain life rather than Demon Slayer training.

Kie appears at the beginning of the story when Tanjiro prepares to descend the mountain and sell charcoal. She remains at home with Nezuko and the younger Kamado children while Tanjiro makes the journey.

When Tanjiro returns the following morning, he discovers that Kie and most of the family have been killed in a demon attack, while Nezuko remains alive but has been transformed. Their loss becomes the event that sends Tanjiro on his journey.

Kie continues appearing through memories and dreams. Enmu later uses Tanjiro's longing for his family to construct a dream in which Kie and the others are alive, forcing Tanjiro to consciously leave them behind in order to awaken.

Tanjuro Kamado is Kie's husband and the father of her six children. After his death, Kie continues raising their family in the mountain home.

Tanjiro Kamado is Kie's eldest son. He assumes substantial responsibility for supporting the household, and Kie trusts him while still worrying about his safety.

Nezuko Kamado is Kie's eldest daughter and strongly resembles her mother. Memories of Kie remain among the human experiences Nezuko retains after becoming a demon.

Takeo Kamado, Hanako Kamado, Shigeru Kamado, and Rokuta Kamado are Kie's younger children, all raised together in the family's mountain home.
