Kei

Kei is patient and more understanding of Ochi-san than he expects. His shame over his failures leads him to assume that withdrawing from his family is preferable to facing them, but her behavior shows that she does not share that conclusion.

She is direct with him when they finally meet again, recognizing his tendency to make mistakes without treating those mistakes as a reason to abandon their relationship.

Kei has no supernatural powers or established combat abilities.

She appears as an ordinary civilian, and her role in the haunted-house story is emotional rather than physical.

Ochi-san hires Sakata Gintoki, Shimura Shinpachi and Kagura to help make his Test-Your-Courage haunted house successful.

As the attraction struggles, Ochi explains that he considers himself a failure who ran away from his former job and family. His desperation to make the haunted house succeed is tied to his desire to prove that he can finally accomplish something.

Okaru arrives at the attraction and reveals that she never truly accepted Ochi's attempt to separate from her. The two reconcile, with Shinpachi observing that both had been too afraid to speak honestly about what they wanted.

Ochi-san is Kei's husband. She comes to the haunted house and reconciles with him after his self-imposed separation from the family.

Their unnamed daughter is part of the family from whom Ochi-san distanced himself because of his shame over his failures.

Sakata Gintoki, Shimura Shinpachi and Kagura encounter Kei through their work at her husband's haunted house.
