Kazeshini

The manifested Kazeshini is violent, mocking and exhilarated by bloodshed. He treats battle as an opportunity to kill rather than a duty and ridicules Hisagi for denying that urge.

His behavior deliberately clashes with Hisagi’s belief that anyone who carries a weapon should fear it. That conflict reflects an incomplete understanding between wielder and spirit rather than proof that Hisagi’s Zanpakutō exists only to take life.

Kazeshini’s Shikai consists of two double-ended, inward- and outward-curving sickles joined by a long chain. Hisagi can fight with them at close range, throw them along changing trajectories, entangle weapons and opponents, or rotate the chain to build momentum.

The manifested spirit uses a similar chained weapon and can emerge from shadows in the anime. He is an agile close-range combatant whose unpredictable movements mirror the Shikai’s design.

In the licensed novel Can’t Fear Your Own World, Hisagi learns that Kazeshini’s true nature concerns the cycle linking life and death. His Bankai, Fushi no Kōjō, chains Hisagi to an opponent and continually restores both by drawing from their combined spiritual power until the shared reserve is exhausted.

Hisagi reveals Kazeshini while fighting Findorr Calius in Fake Karakura Town, admitting that he dislikes its resemblance to a tool designed solely for reaping life.

During the anime-only rebellion, Kazeshini separates from Hisagi and eagerly hunts him. After Muramasa’s control is broken, the spirit continues causing trouble before reluctantly cooperating against the uncontrolled Tōjū.

Shūhei Hisagi is Kazeshini’s wielder. Their relationship is antagonistic because Hisagi fears the weapon’s lethal appearance while Kazeshini resents that fear as rejection.

Muramasa manifests and manipulates Kazeshini during the rebellion. Findorr Calius is the opponent against whom Hisagi first reveals the Shikai in the manga.
