Kayano

Kayano is cynical and brutal, treating violence with a disturbing sense of play. During attacks, she behaves as though she were accumulating points rather than harming real people.

Her worldview is rooted in a belief that people inevitably hurt one another when left free to act. She therefore sees SERN's authoritarian control as a means of imposing peace, even while recognizing that the organization considers individual Rounders expendable.

Her fatalism develops from experiences of bullying and the violence surrounding people she cared about, leaving her willing to sacrifice herself for the ordered society she believes SERN provides.

Kayano is a trained Rounder accustomed to violent field operations. She can use weapons and pursue resistance targets on behalf of SERN.

Her greatest advantages come from the resources and surveillance available to the Rounders rather than any supernatural power. She has no established Reading Steiner or time-travel ability.

Kayano appears in Rebellion of the Missing Ring, a manga focused on Suzuha and the Alpha future. She works as a Rounder tasked with preventing Suzuha from successfully carrying out her mission.

Her presence gives the future conflict a direct human antagonist rather than leaving SERN as a distant organization.

Kayano's history reveals that she was once a bullied girl who spent time at an orphanage and cared deeply for a girl named Hazuki. Her experiences eventually lead her to embrace SERN's imposed order and become a Rounder.

Suzuha Amane is Kayano's target during the events of Rebellion of the Missing Ring, with Kayano attempting to prevent her time-travel mission from succeeding.

Hazuki is a girl from the orphanage who played an important role in Kayano's earlier life and the development of her worldview.
