Kaede Kurushima

Kaede is friendly, sociable and comfortable within Mayuri's cosplay circle. She participates readily in group outings and parties and helps create the ordinary social environment surrounding the laboratory during Steins;Gate 0.

She enjoys cosplay enough to attend events wearing Mayuri's handmade costumes. Compared with the scientists and time travelers around the lab, her concerns are generally grounded in ordinary university and social life.

Kaede has no supernatural abilities and is not a scientist or combatant. Her established skills are primarily connected to cosplay and her university life.

She is one of the civilians drawn into the extended Future Gadget Laboratory circle during the Beta-world-line period, but she does not participate directly in building time machines or developing Amadeus.

Kaede was mentioned in material surrounding the original Steins;Gate before receiving a larger physical role in the Beta-world-line stories and Steins;Gate 0. She becomes a regular visitor to the laboratory during the months when Okabe has withdrawn from his former mad-scientist persona.

She attends social events with Mayuri, Yuki and Fubuki, including gatherings that bring the wider group together around the laboratory.

Her role largely preserves a connection to everyday life while the central cast becomes increasingly entangled in military, scientific and temporal conflicts.

Mayuri Shiina is Kaede's friend and makes cosplay costumes that Kaede wears to events.

Yuki Amane attends the same university as Kaede and belongs to her social circle.

Katsumi Nakase is another of Kaede's close cosplay friends.
