Jessica

Jessica is cheerful, affectionate and much more welcoming toward outsiders than Brad. Her enthusiasm when Vash returns shows how strongly she remembers him from childhood.

She is openly infatuated with Vash and pays comparatively little attention to Brad's attempts to impress her. This creates a light romantic tension before the Gung-Ho Guns' attack turns the visit into a crisis.

Jessica is also deeply attached to the floating community in which she was raised and shares its relatively peaceful life away from the surface.

Jessica is an ordinary human with no established supernatural abilities or notable combat techniques.

She has grown up within a technologically advanced SEEDS community whose residents maintain systems largely lost to the surface world, although the anime does not establish a specific technical profession for her.

Jessica welcomes Vash when he returns to the floating ship with Nicholas D. Wolfwood. Her familiarity with Vash contrasts with Brad's suspicion of the two armed outsiders.

The situation changes when Leonof the Puppet-Master infiltrates the ship as part of a coordinated Gung-Ho Guns assault.

Vash the Stampede has known Jessica since she was a child. She remains openly infatuated with him when he returns to the floating ship years later.

Brad grew up alongside Jessica and has romantic feelings for her. Jessica's attention toward Vash contributes to Brad's jealousy.

Leonof the Puppet-Master targets Jessica during the assault on the floating ship. He kidnaps her and substitutes one of his puppets in an attempt to assassinate Vash.
