Ichi Terakado

Ichi is stern, protective and suspicious of people she believes may take advantage of Tsuu Terakado. Her position as both mother and manager means that concern for Tsuu's happiness frequently overlaps with concern for her career.

Her protectiveness sometimes leads her to manipulate situations rather than simply speaking to Tsuu directly. When she becomes convinced that Goemon is using her daughter, she resorts to an elaborate attempt to frighten Tsuu away from him.

Ichi nevertheless cares deeply about what Tsuu actually wants. She can reconsider her decisions when confronted with evidence that her efforts to protect her daughter are instead hurting her.

Ichi has no supernatural abilities or established combat specialty.

Her primary skills are those of an entertainment manager. She oversees Tsuu's professional activities and remains alert to circumstances that could damage her daughter's career or reputation.

Ichi is also resourceful enough to manufacture threatening letters and construct a convincing intimidation campaign when she believes Tsuu is being manipulated.

Ichi first appears around Tsuu's concert and the attempted reunion between the idol and her imprisoned father. She initially wants her former husband kept away, believing his criminal history and abandonment of the family have already caused enough pain.

After seeing how strongly Tsuu still wants to meet her father and witnessing him protect their daughter, Ichi softens her position and allows their relationship to resume.

She later becomes central to the story involving Goemon. Convinced that Tsuu's new boyfriend is exploiting her, Ichi creates threatening letters intended to scare Tsuu into ending the relationship. The Yorozuya investigate the supposed stalker and uncover what she has been doing.

Although Tsuu discovers that her mother manufactured the threats, she understands that Ichi acted out of concern for her and forgives her.

Tsuu Terakado is Ichi's daughter and client. Ichi manages her career and is intensely protective of her, sometimes to an intrusive degree.

Tsuu's Father is Ichi's former husband. She resents him for the crime that separated him from their family, although she eventually becomes more willing to let him maintain a relationship with Tsuu.

Goemon dates Tsuu, prompting Ichi to intervene after recognizing that his intentions are not sincere.

Sakata Gintoki, Shimura Shinpachi and Kagura become involved when Ichi's fabricated threats against Tsuu are investigated.
