Personality
Personality
Hui Cheng is reserved, clinical and deeply confident in poison as a legitimate instrument of warfare. He rejects romantic ideas about honorable combat, reasoning that poison is simply an efficient means of killing human beings.
His research is ruthless. He accepts severe casualties among test subjects and subordinates in pursuit of more effective toxins, displaying little concern for the human cost of his experiments.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
Hui Cheng possesses limited conventional martial ability but compensates with extensive knowledge of poisons. He develops toxins from animals, plants and other natural sources, creating substances with different delivery methods and activation times.
His forces employ poison arrows and specialized projectiles containing toxic gas. One of his most dangerous compounds produces delayed symptoms, allowing an apparently minor exposure to become fatal days later.
As a commander, he combines these weapons with ranged warfare and siege equipment, allowing Han to threaten heavily fortified positions without relying entirely on direct assaults.
Story Role
Story Role
Hui Cheng joins the Coalition Army as Han's principal commander during the invasion of Qin. His forces occupy part of the central front at Kankoku Pass and initially make relatively few major movements while the coalition tests Qin's defenses.
He eventually deploys his poison corps against the wall. A delayed-action poison strikes Great General Zhang Tang, leaving the elderly Qin commander fatally weakened.
During the Coalition Army's major assault, Huan Yi and Zhang Tang descend from Kankoku Pass and infiltrate the Han position disguised among Wei troops. Zhang Tang reaches Hui Cheng's headquarters and kills him before finally succumbing to the poison himself.
