Personality
Personality
Chun Shen Jun is proud, intelligent and accustomed to exercising authority over exceptionally powerful people. His status as one of the Four Lords has given him decades of experience in the political struggles among China's states.
He possesses little tolerance for disorder when commanding the Coalition. The alliance contains generals and politicians from rival states with enormous egos, requiring Chun Shen Jun to impose a workable hierarchy over men who would normally have no reason to cooperate.
He is also pragmatic enough to rely heavily on people whose expertise exceeds his own in particular areas. Although he is commander-in-chief, Li Mu plays the central role in constructing the Coalition's military strategy.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
Chun Shen Jun's principal abilities are political leadership, administration and high-level strategic judgment. He is not presented primarily as a frontline martial general.
As commander-in-chief of the Coalition Army, he sits above forces from Chu, Zhao, Wei, Han and Yan, with Qi originally included in the alliance as well. Coordinating such a coalition requires enormous political influence because every state's commanders retain their own priorities and rivalries.
His authority within Chu is equally significant. He operates at the highest level of the state's government and stands among the few people capable of managing the ambitions of Chu's unusually powerful military establishment.
Story Role
Story Role
Chun Shen Jun becomes one of the principal leaders of the Coalition invasion of Qin. He assumes the position of commander-in-chief while Li Mu's planning provides the strategic foundation for the invasion.
The Coalition concentrates its forces against Kankoku Pass, intending to eliminate Qin as a state. Chun Shen Jun's position places him above the individual armies battling Qin's generals across the enormous front.
After the Coalition fails to break Qin, Chun Shen Jun returns to Chu and resumes his political responsibilities.
Political instability later erupts within Chu. Chun Shen Jun becomes entangled in a succession struggle surrounding the royal court and is assassinated as Li Yuan maneuvers to secure control of the government. Li Yuan subsequently takes the position of prime minister. The official Young Jump character guide likewise identifies Li Yuan as the man who kills Chun Shen Jun and succeeds him as prime minister.
