Higher Dragon

Higher Dragon is playful, affectionate, loyal, and particularly attached to Gohan. He behaves much like an unusually intelligent pet, responding to commands, recognizing danger, and showing clear affection toward the people he trusts.

He is initially cautious around strangers but quickly forms strong attachments when treated kindly.

Higher Dragon can also be mischievous, particularly during peaceful scenes in which he plays with Gohan rather than serving any practical purpose.

Higher Dragon can fly naturally and is strong enough to carry Gohan through the air.

He possesses greater intelligence than an ordinary animal and can understand complex situations, though he does not speak human language.

His species is not portrayed as possessing the wish-granting abilities of Eternal Dragons such as Shen Long or Porunga. Higher Dragon is instead a living creature with natural flight and modest physical abilities. Reference material identifies him as a dragon and Gohan's recurring companion.

Higher Dragon first becomes associated with Gohan during the events of The Tree of Might, where the young Saiyan befriends the creature after protecting him.

He returns in several Dragon Ball Z films and appears during the anime-original Garlic Jr. storyline. His presence gives Gohan a recurring animal companion during the period when much of his life is otherwise dominated by dangerous training and battles.

In Lord Slug, Higher Dragon participates in Gohan's attempt to counter the effects of the villain's transformation by helping with the distinctive whistle that affects Namekians.

Higher Dragon's appearances are anime and film material rather than part of Akira Toriyama's original Dragon Ball manga continuity.

Gohan is Higher Dragon's closest companion and the person with whom he forms a lasting bond.

Piccolo encounters Higher Dragon through Gohan and the events surrounding several anime-original adventures.

Goku and Chi-Chi belong to the family around which Higher Dragon spends much of his time.
