Heizo Hattori

Heizo is stern, disciplined, authoritative, and extremely perceptive. His narrow-eyed expression and controlled manner make him intimidating even to experienced police officers.

He deliberately avoids indulging Heiji's confidence. When his son behaves recklessly, Heizo can respond harshly, believing that a detective who underestimates danger can easily get himself or someone else killed.

Beneath that severity, Heizo is deeply protective. He sometimes conceals his intentions even from Heiji when doing so helps keep an investigation under control.

Heizo is an exceptionally capable investigator with advanced deductive reasoning and extensive command experience. His senior police rank reflects decades of work in law enforcement rather than purely administrative authority.

He can assess complicated cases quickly and manipulate investigative circumstances to expose criminals. He is also skilled at judging people's intentions, including his son's, and is rarely fooled by Heiji's attempts to conceal what he is doing.

Heizo's leadership gives him access to the full resources of the Osaka Prefectural Police and allows him to coordinate complex operations across multiple units.

Heizo appears as both Heiji's father and one of the senior figures within Osaka law enforcement. His cases demonstrate that Heiji operates in the shadow of a parent whose own investigative ability is formidable.

In one prominent investigation, Heizo publicly strikes Heiji and treats him with unusual severity. His behavior is part of a deliberate strategy: Heizo wants Heiji removed from immediate suspicion so that his son can investigate independently while criminals underestimate their cooperation.

Heizo continues to appear during major Osaka incidents, usually operating at the command level while Heiji and Conan pursue the detailed deductions.

Heiji Hattori is Heizo's son. Heizo rarely praises Heiji Hattori openly but recognizes his intelligence and is deeply concerned about his safety.
