Ginshiro Tooyama

Ginshiro is experienced, composed, and considerably less severe in demeanor than Heizo. He takes his responsibilities as a senior police officer seriously but can show a warmer and more openly humorous side around family and trusted colleagues.

He is particularly protective of Kazuha. His familiarity with Heiji does not prevent him from becoming intimidating when he believes the younger detective is treating his daughter poorly.

Ginshiro also recognizes the closeness between Kazuha and Heiji and has joked that he would prefer Heiji as her eventual husband to another boy.

Ginshiro is a veteran police officer with extensive experience in criminal investigation, administration, and command. His senior position gives him responsibility for coordinating personnel and major cases within Osaka.

He works comfortably with Heizo and Goro Otaki, forming part of the experienced leadership surrounding cases in which Heiji becomes involved.

Ginshiro first appears during a major Osaka case involving Heiji, Kazuha, Conan, and the local police. He subsequently returns in investigations where senior Osaka officers become directly involved.

His role is usually supervisory rather than that of the principal detective. He provides the authority and police resources supporting investigations while Heiji and Conan perform much of the visible deduction.

Ginshiro also strengthens the long-established connection between the Tooyama and Hattori families, explaining why their children grew up so closely connected.

Kazuha Tooyama is Ginshiro's daughter. He is protective of Kazuha Tooyama and pays close attention to the way Heiji treats her.

Heizo Hattori is Ginshiro's close friend and senior colleague within the Osaka police.

Heiji Hattori is Heizo's son and Kazuha's childhood friend. Ginshiro is familiar with Heiji Hattori and recognizes his close bond with Kazuha.

Goro Otaki is a fellow Osaka police officer who works closely with Ginshiro and Heizo.
